A personal update from Faisal

Faisal here.

Well… it’s been quite the past few months.

and I thought, let me pause. Come up for air. Drop a personal update.

If you’re new here, here’s the short version:

A few months ago i made the biggest decision of my life.

I walked away from a secure, high-level role.

Head of Marketing at one of the fastest-growing Muslim tech companies.

A job I loved. A company I helped grow from 400K to 11M users.

Three kids at home. One a newborn. No plan B.

Why?

Because FG was starting to bleed. I wasn’t able to give it as much attention. It was becoming stale (yes, i noticed it too)

And we all know what they say about things that bleed... eventually they die.

So I took the risk.

Left it all behind. To go all in on something I’ve poured the last 8 years of my life into.

I’ve met people who said the podcast helped them stop listening to music. People who started praying again. Even people who, by the mercy of Allah, said Freshly Grounded pulled them back from ending it all.

You don’t ignore that.
You don’t pause that.
You go to war for that.

So I decided to go all in.

we’re building a purpose-built studio. hiring a core team, and raising investment to scale the vision.

Phone in one hand. Shareholder agreement in the other.

Building, pitching, hiring, dreaming… all at once.

There’s no playbook for raising capital for something like FG.
Especially when you’re trying to build media that doesn’t compromise your deen.

One of the most interesting pieces of feedback I heard from our investors was:

It’s easy for people to invest in tech.
It’s hard for Muslims to invest in media.
Because most media is soaked in haram.

Now there’s a halal alternative worth backing.

And guess what, Alhamdulillāh, in just over a week of calls we’ve raised almost half the round.

We’re turning FG into something bigger. Something that says:
“Yes, you can build something great without selling your soul.”

So if you’ve been wondering where I’ve been?

That’s where.

Still sipping cortados.
Still avoiding London rain.
Still pushing to build the Muslim media empire we never had.
