🔑 The Art of Refining the Known: A Framework for Personal Growth

So I’ll cut straight to the juice. I was filming a podcast with a shaykh recently when something he said hit me quite deep, so I just got to share it with you guys:

He said something along the lines of “Make sure you focus on revision because when it comes to the Quran, memorising new surahs isn't obligatory, but remembering what you've already memorised is"

Cue the sound of a thousand light bulbs going off in my head. This wisdom wasn't just applicable to memorising; it was the golden ticket for everything in life!

We're so busy chasing the next big thing that we forget to strengthen what we already have.

Think about your journey to health. I see you there, pouring over articles, hunting down the latest superfoods, and deciphering newfangled diets.

But what if instead of loading up your grocery cart with goji berries and quinoa, you took a step back and scrutinised what's already on your plate? Do you really need to add more, or is it about removing some culprits that have overstayed their welcome?

Before you splash out on that exotic fruit that “promises” eternal youth, how about showing sugar the back door? Or why not tell those fizzy drinks that you're breaking up and it's them, not you?

Just like that Shaykh reminded me about the importance of perfecting what we've already got, maybe we should apply this to our diet (or anything else) too. Before chasing the new, let's take care of the basics, like cutting out the unnecessary.

The lesson here? Master the basics first.

So, my dear fellow knowledge-thirsty go-getters, here's your challenge for the week. Look for ways to refine your skills, deepen your understanding, and solidify your existing knowledge.

Remember, it's not always about adding more bricks to the wall; sometimes, it's about making sure the ones you've already laid are rock solid. That's how you build a fortress, not just a wall.

So even when the stakes are high and the pressure's on, remember that we don't just chase the new - we master the old. That's the Freshly Grounded way.

Stay sharp, my friends! 🧠💡
